The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) as it is known locally was originally established as the New South Wales Institute of Technology in 1965. In recognition of its success and high academic standing, the Institute was reconstituted as the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) on Australia Day 1988. UTS is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and of the Australian Vice-Chancellors' Committee.

In view of the professional needs of many busy engineers and executives to broaden and sharpen their professional strength and gain a further qualification in the field, the University of Technology, Sydney is offering this Master's degree programme which, upon successful completion, will lead to the award of the Master of Engineering Management.

The Master Degree in Engineering Management awarded by the University of Technology, Sydney, through part-time studies in Hong Kong, carries equivalent academic status and recognition to a Master's Degree conferred by the University to local full-time and part-time students in Australia.

The UTS Master of Engineering Management program is a specialised Master level programme that places a greater emphasis on the interface between technology and management than does the traditional MBA. It serves as a continuing development path for in-service engineers or other technical professionals who perform, or who aspire to perform; management tasks while maintaining currency in their technical specialties.

The Master of Engineering Management, of 15-month duration and consisting of four semesters, which comprises 6 cores and 2 electives. Instruction is through a combination of distance learning, seminars and lectures held in Hong Kong which are taught face-to face by UTS academic staff, self-structured study, and study group meetings.

The Chinese version of this Programme has been introduced into Mainland China and at present classes are held in Guangzhou. Since its inception in Guangzhou in Auguest 2001, there have been 3 intakes of a total of 100 students. This Progarmme is highly regarded by students for its quality in teaching and teaching materials.

Entry Requirements
Applicants for the Master of Management are required to have:
1. An undergraduate degree in engineering, other technological/applied science field or business plus two years` experience; or
2. In service engineers or business executives without a degree but with other qualifications and relevant experience, and
3. Basic understanding in the English language

The programme commences in December each year and the dealine for application is October preceding the proposed date of entry.
