Towngas China Company Limited
Wins the Top Prize of the 2016 HKMA Quality Award


Results of the annual HKMA Quality Award, one of the most prestigious business awards in Hong Kong, were proudly announced by Mr Michael Lee, Chairman of 2016 HKMA Quality Award Organizing Committee, during the Award Presentation Ceremony held today (Friday, 29 July 2016) at the Intercontinental Hong Kong.

Towngas China Company Limited was awarded the Grand Award in recognition of its strong commitment and distinguished achievement in total quality management. A.S. Watson Retail (HK) Limited - Watson`s The Chemist and Kerry Logistics Network Limited were awarded the Certificate of Excellence; and the Certificate of Merit went to Zurich Insurance (Hong Kong) while the Special Award for SMEs went to Armitage Technologies Limited and Magic Clean Environmental Services Limited.

Following are some brief but specific comments on each winner:


Towngas China Company Limited
Towngas China has adopted a fact-based and systematic management approach which is well integrated and aligned with the organizational needs and its Vision, Mission and Core Values. It is able to develop a successful procedure to adapt the best quality management practices to joint ventures in China and also significantly influencing the development of gas industry by setting high operational and safety standards. Sustained improvement in results over time has clearly demonstrated the accomplishment of Towngas China`s Mission.


A.S. Watson Retail (HK) Limited - Watson`s The Chemist
A.S. Watson Retail (HK) Limited - Watson`s The Chemist is part of A. S. Watson Group, offering health and beauty products with a wide range of services and developing a portfolio of specialist store formats for consumers with specific needs and interest. It has an effective and systematic approach which is well-deployed and aligned with its overall organizational needs as identified in response to the organizational profile and other process items and therefore supports its significant annual growth rates.

Kerry Logistics Network Limited
Kerry Logistics Network Limited demonstrates effective and systematic deployment. In particular, the company has demonstrated a fact-based, systematic evaluation and improvement process and organizational learning including innovation, in alignment with its overall organizational strategic objectives. Given a huge geographical spread on its operation across 40 countries and territories, senior leaders with diverse backgrounds and expertise have successfully created an organizational environment to improve its organizational performance, communication across units and knowledge management.


Zurich Insurance (Hong Kong)
Zurich Insurance (Hong Kong) cares its customers` needs as well as its staff development. The company not only provides a number of training initiatives for their staff, it also equips with a series of friendly employment policies that assist its staff to achieve work-life balance. In addition, the company stresses on effective implementation of quality management system. In accordance with the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance 2015 Report, good rankings were achieved in various lines of business including marine (statutory), employees` compensation, liabilities, motor and engineering.


Armitage Technologies Limited
Armitage owns proprietary ERP and Fleet Management solutions which have obtained external accreditations and good track records demonstrating technical competence in providing quality solutions to the customers. There is a clear, cohesive and consistent application of Vision, Mission and Values driving company`s business and leadership. The quality management process of Armitage plays a crucial role in achieving the remarkable results i.e., maintaining a strong loyal customer base, growing new customers at a rate of 8.3% when compared to last year.

Magic Clean Environmental Services Limited
While founded as a company providing basic cleaning services to residential customers, today Magic Clean has transformed into a multi-disciplinary environmental service company serving predominately commercial clients. The company demonstrates effective, systematic approaches and business strategies supporting its healthy and stable growth in the past few years and the near future. With a committed leadership and focused business vision, Magic Clean has shown strong business growth in the past five years since 2011, reaching new heights in revenue growth of double-digit in recent years.

Introduction of the HKMA Quality Award
The Association introduced the annual Quality Award in 1991 to give recognition to those companies in Hong Kong which have made a lasting commitment to quality and also to provide an opportunity for companies to share with one another their experience in Total Quality Management. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the HKMA Quality Award.
