Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accounting Technicians Limited ( HKIAAT ) Course

HKIAAT course prepares participants to take the Accredited Accounting Technician (AAT) examination. Participants are required to take an internal examination for each subject at the end of the course. Those who pass the internal examination will be awarded a single subject certificate by the HKMA. Upon successful completion of 8 subjects, participants will be awarded a Diploma in Accounting Studies by the HKMA.

The Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accounting Technicians

The Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accounting Technicians Limited (HKIAAT Limited) was set up in 1988 under the auspices of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA). The HKIAAT's mission is to uphold and promote the competencies of the Association's members and students to meet business needs in Hong Kong and the Mainland; to accredit relevant non-degree qualifications; and to offer premier member and student services.

The Accredited Accounting Technician (AAT) Examination aims to provide an accounting education and examination system suitable for the Hong Kong environment. Passing the examinations also gives students the opportunity to register for the HKICPA's Qualification Programme (QP) after meeting other criteria, such as the completion of additional examinations or programmes accredited by the HKICPA.

Programe Structure

the Accredited Accounting Technician (AAT) Examination regulations

The AAT examinations are usually held twice a year in June and December.

  1. All candidates must first register at the HKIAAT Limited as student members before they can sit for the AAT examinations.
    Registration dates for new student members:
    * 31 January for the June examination; and
    * 15 July for the December examination.
  2. Students are advised to attempt not more than 4 subjects in any one sitting.
  3. Students are allowed to take any number of papers in any sequence.
  4. No specified period is set for completion of the examination.
  5. All examination papers must be answered in English.

Entry Requirements

Those who are interested in this programme may apply, however, the entry requirement to the Local Examination will be:
  • completion of Form 5; or
  • aged 16 or over

Application Period

The programme commerces in January, May, July and November every year and the application deadline is normally two weeks prior to the commencement date.
