The California Institute of Advanced Management (CiAM) is a unique organization dedicated to building the capacity of students from a wide range of backgrounds to succeed as entrepreneurs, executives, and managers in whatever career direction they choose.

The Institute was founded by Dr. William A. Cohen (President Emeritus) and Ms. Jennie Ta (President/CEO) with the encouragement of philanthropist Minglo Shao, the principal benefactor of the school. Mr. Shao has a substantial history of funding educational endeavors and programs and is founder of The Peter Drucker Academy of China, which teaches Drucker courses in 32 cities in Mainland China and Hong Kong. In the past the Academy has offered accredited MBA degrees in partnership with U.S. and Chinese universities.

Flexibility - Access enriched learning opportunities through CiAM's online learning environment which includes interactive virtual learning activities and engagement.

The Philosophy of Dr Peter Drucker - Most of the courses of the program are based on the theory of Peter F. Drucker, the Father of Modern Management. Dr. Drucker's view of leadership is critical to becoming an effective executive and this program equips students with vital skills to manage or create financial, business and leadership careers at the upper levels of management.

Renowned guest speakers - CiAM provides two opportunities for students to learn from professionals: industry professionals and academic research professors from throughout the United States. Faculty coordinates potential guests from industry to present their views of the application of course theory as to the relevance when applied to the business setting. These presentations are videotaped and are available to the online students during the course offering.

Assignment-based assessment - Instead of exams, students are graded on papers, reports and presentations. Leadership and teamwork skills are developed as students work collaboratively throughout their course of study and there is a continuous focus on the development of effective written and verbal communications.

Attainable in 22 months - Participants can complete the program in 22 months with the completion of 12 courses.

Students are required to enroll in one course per term and complete 12 courses to earn the MBA (Executive Management & Entrepreneurship) degree in 22 months. Each course lasts for 7 weeks. Students are not allowed to register for more than 1 course per term.

Application Procedure

Step 1: To apply for a place in the program, candidates should connect to the online application at and submit the Application Package which includes the following:

  1. 1 set of completed Application Form for CiAM MBA (Executive Management & Entrepreneurship) program
  2. Current resume
  3. 1 copy of the HKID or Passport
  4. 1 set of completed Admissions Questionnaire click here
  5. Statement of Interest (Minimum 500 words) Topic: "Describe your interest in CiAM's MBA as to how our program meets your career and educational objectives."
  6. 1 set of documentary proof of proficiency in English, where applicable, e.g. a result slip of IELTS with overall band score at 6.0 or above (results must be within 2 years only)
  7. A non-refundable application fee of USD$50 (to be paid using a credit card)

Step 2: Pass the CiAM Admissions Essay

CiAM assesses the English proficiency of candidates by requiring them to complete an Admissions Essay, which will be taken online. An admissions representative will schedule a one hour timeslot with the candidate. At the appointed time, the admissions representative will set up a video conference call with the prospective candidate to verify their identity and to go over the rules of the Admissions Essay. Once their identity has been verified and the candidate is ready, the test will be sent via email and the candidate will have one hour to complete the test and return it via email to the admissions representative.

Step 3: Schedule and Pass the Admissions Interview

Having submitted the Application Package and passed the Admissions Essay, an online interview will be arranged to meet with the Office of Admissions, the Dean, and / or the President.

- Special rate of tuition fee: USD$8,000 (USD$667 per course X 12 courses) + Application fee: USD$50
- The above special fee is offered as a result of a sponsorship from Shao Ming Lo Foundation. The original tuition fee is USD$22,500
- This exclusive sponsorship is only applicable to students who complete the program in 33 months from the commencement date of the first course. The tuition fee is payable at the beginning of each term.

Entry Requirements
  1. A Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (out of 4.0). An accredited institution is one that is recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  2. Minimum one year of organizational work experience
  3. Successful completion of the CiAM Admissions Essay
