During the 39th Annual General Meeting of The Hong Kong Management
Association held on Tuesday, 27 June 2000 at its Headquarter, Dr The
Hon David K P Li, JP, Chairman of the Association, proudly reported
that "the Association has fulfilled its mission with success in 1999."
In 1999, the Association provided a huge range of training programmes
for more than 50,000 participants. These included a number of programmes
relating to information technology, entrepreneurship, health, environment,
ethics as well as legal, financial and accounting systems in the Mainland,
which were all designed to meet the changing needs of the community.
Besides, the Association has established a high-quality, English medium
secondary school under the Direct Subsidy Scheme, aiming to ensure
that the youth in Hong Kong will receive the best education available
and to thrive under a positive and challenging environment. This is
indeed a reflection of the Association`s commitment in building Hong
Kong`s future as a world class city in the new millennium.
At the Annual General Meeting, Mr Alfred Chan, Managing Director,
Hong Kong and China Gas Co Ltd; Dr Alice Cheng, Managing Director,
Taching Petroleum Co Ltd; Mr Ian Fok, Managing Director, Yau Wing
Co Ltd; Mr Daniel S C Koo, Chairman, Shui Hing (HK) Ltd; Mr Irving
Koo, General Manager - Marketing and Customer Services, CLP Power
Hong Kong Limited; Dr The Hon David K P Li, JP, Chairman and Chief
Executive, The Bank of East Asia Ltd; Mr David Turnbull, Deputy Chairman
and Chief Executive, Cathay Pacific Airways Limited and Dr Annie Wong
Leung Kit Wah were elected or re-elected as Council members of the
Association. While at the Council Meeting held immediately after the
Annual General Meeting, Dr The Hon David K P Li, JP, Chairman and
Chief Executive, The Bank of East Asia Ltd and Dr Dennis Sun, Chairman
and Managing Director, Fuji Photo Products Co Ltd, were re-elected
Chairman and Deputy-Chairman of the Association respectively.
