Multiple Premier Qualifications from the Top Ranked Business School in Asia and Australia
Macquarie Graduate School of Management

1/8/2005

In an increasingly competitive, international environment, organizations are seeking high levels of performance from their managers. For managers to differentiate themselves from one another, education is definitely the most effective way to catch career opportunities in today’s fast-growing economy.

"Managers can showcase their talent by demonstrating an exceptional education pedigree – one that is truly international and transportable." said Professor Richard Dunford, Interim Dean at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM). "It will become increasingly difficult, in the very competitive market for management talent, for managers to advance to the highest levels in a world-class organization without the structural support that comes from a quality tertiary education. Now is the perfect time for managers to return to the classroom to obtain the necessary qualifications and management skills that will enable their continued success."

Since 1994, MGSM has been teaching in Hong Kong and has demonstrated its commitment to Hong Kong over the years through its partnership with leading Hong Kong education institute, The Hong Kong Management Association.

"MGSM programmes were specifically designed to link together and form an integrated pathway leading to the MBA," said Professor Dunford. "For those with an undergraduate degree and 3 to 5 years’ professional or managerial work experience, direct entry to programmes (the Master of Management or MBA) may be requested. Without a prior degree, entry occurs through Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Management. All units are taught at the MBA level."

"The advantages of the integrated suite of programmes are the multiple entry and graduation points available," Professor Dunford said. "Some candidates are sure

that they wish to undertake an MBA and may qualify for direct entry into that
programme. Another person may wish to begin with a lesser number of units and undertake a postgraduate certificate or diploma. Others again may wish to undertake the Master of Management in a specialized area such as Financial Management, General Management, Human Resource Management, Information Technology Management, Logistics and Operations Management or Marketing Management."

Flexibility is another distinct feature of MGSM programmes. "The Hong Kong block teaching timetable for each subject of Friday night, Saturday afternoon and evening and all day Sunday, repeated on a second consecutive weekend, does not take students away from normal working hours." said Professor Dunford. Students can even continue their programmes in Singapore and Australia. Furthermore, "MGSM differentiates itself from other programme offerings through its study tour to China and Europe." Professor Dunford added.

Building on the provision of these leading-edge programmes, MGSM has achieved an outstanding reputation in the world over the years. "In 2005, MGSM received European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) international accreditation by the leading European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD)," Professor Dunford said. "To achieve EQUIS accreditation, a business school must satisfy quality criteria in three equally important areas: high international standards of quality in all areas; a significant level of internationalization; and the needs of the corporate world are well integrated into programmes, activities and processes." MGSM was ranked among the top 35 business schools worldwide for executive education (London Financial Times, 2005) and was the top ranked MBA programme in Asia and Australia (Economist Intelligence Unit`s Which MBA? 2004, 2003 and 2002).

The distinguished quality of MGSM programmes and students is also reflected in numerous international rankings. To name but a few:

- MGSM was ranked No.1 in the world for the quality of its students (Economist Intelligence Unit, Which MBA? Global Full-time MBA Rankings, 2004, 2003 and 2002.)
- MGSM full-time MBA programme was ranked No.1 in Australia and Asia and No.50 in the world (Economist Intelligence Unit, Which MBA? Global Full-time MBA Rankings, 2004)
- The learning process of MGSM was ranked No.3 in the world for personal development and educational experience (Economist Intelligence Unit, Which MBA? Global Full-time MBA Rankings, 2004)

All MGSM programmes are now open for applications and the deadline is 19 September. The programmes will commence in January 2006.
