The Hong Kong Management Game, launched in 1971 is a computer simulated exercise, allowing executives a risk-free opportunity to try new strategies under a sluggish economic situation. It is not just a game, but has proved to be an exciting and efficient tool in management training. The essence of the Game is the ability to make sound business decisions consistently at the appropriate time, demonstrating skills in the field of finance, production, investment and marketing even at a time of crisis. These decisions need to be welded into a strategy if a winning combination is to be achieved.

The Hong Kong Management Game is a knock-out competition mainly played by e-mails except the Hongkong Final which will be held on Saturday, 5 August 2006. Participating teams, each with four members, acted as fictitious companies, have to submit decisions regarding marketing, pricing, production and finance and to compete in the same real-to-life business situations for eight accounting periods in the Official Round. "Companies" may also face simulated up-to-date management problems such as strikes, labour dispute, anti-competition strategy, terrorist attack, materials / labour outsourcing issues, natural disasters, vendor problems and so on. Decisions submitted will be evaluated by the computer and up-dated Management Report will be produced for each company to form the basis for the next period`s decisions.

Teams with the highest accumulated profit within their group at the end of Period Eight will be promoted to the Hongkong Final. Attractive prizes to be won are as follows:
