Speaks at the HKMA 21st Susan Yuen Memorial Lecture

The Hon Wong Yan Lung SC JP, Secretary for Justice, Government of the HKSAR delivered a speech related to the 2006 Theme of the Hong Kong Management Association, "Hong Kong: the World City of Asia" to over 450 members and guests on Thursday, 7 September 2006 at the Twenty-First Susan Yuen Memorial Lecture and Dinner organized by the Association.

During the Dinner, Dr The Hon David Li GBS JP, Chairman of the Association mentioned that, "This theme highlights what makes our city unique, and encourages us to build on our advantages for an even better and more prosperous tomorrow." In addition, Mr Albert Ma JP, Chairman of the Theme Year Working Party 2006 highlighted some major activities organized by the Working Party throughout the year.

The Presentation Ceremony of the Award for Excellence in Training 2006 was also held during the Memorial Lecture and Dinner. Winners of Campaign and Individual Awards were presented with trophies and certificates by The Hon Wong Yan Lung SC JP and Dr The Hon David K P Li GBS JP.

At the Award Presentation Ceremony, Mr Brett Butcher, Managing Director of Langham Place Hotel, the Gold Prize winner expressed his grateful thanks to his colleagues for their efforts, and extended his appreciation to the Association for organizing the Training Award which "have created a unique arena for companies and working professionals to share their best practices."

The other top prize winner, the Trainer of the Year, Ms Michelle Yam from Shangri-La also said that, "I really hope to see more people joining this challenging and rewarding career."

About the Award for Excellence in Training
The Award has been organized by the Human Resources Development Management Committee of the Association since 1990, to give public recognition to trainers and their companies for the achievements and contributions that training can make to corporate results.

    Theme Year Working Party
    Since 1985, the Association has introduced a theme year concept to its work in order to bring greater focus to various management activities. For 2006, the Theme Year Working Party adopted "Hong Kong: the World City of Asia" as its theme. This year, members of the Working Party include:

    Susan Yuen Memorial Lecture
    Organized by the Association`s Theme Year Working Party since 1985, the Susan Yuen Memorial Lecture and Dinner is one of the highlight of the Association`s whole year activities aiming to recognize the contribution of the late Mrs Susan Yuen to Hong Kong`s business community. This special event will raise funds for the Susan Yuen Fellowship and Research Foundation to provide scholarships for in-service executives to attend short and practical courses.
